I build systems that have to be right, not just done.

I'm Kelyn — a Nairobi-based engineer with eight years of building distributed systems, data platforms, and ML infrastructure. Currently co-founder, CPO, and chief engineer at DataQRL, where I've shipped a seven-module enterprise data governance platform from a blank repo.

Before that I led backend at Backbone Technologies, a US fintech, where we hit sub-100ms API latency on a unified Plaid + Modern Treasury + Stripe backend. I rebuilt the dispatch stack at PowWater and cut water-delivery times in half. I built a nutrition recommendation service from scratch with Flutter and TensorFlow at Sonolabs.

More recently I've turned to causal systems — my project NeoRx is a drug-target discovery pipeline that combines Pearl's do-calculus with a BiGRU-VAE molecular generator and a hierarchical RL agent. It hit mean F₁ = 0.474 with zero false positives across seven disease validations.

In September 2026 I start graduate studies in Cognitive Science at the University of Osnabrück. Until then — and during — I consult for teams that need senior engineering done well, and I'm open to the right full-time senior role.
